Professional photographer, artist, industry representative and philanthropist, Penelope enjoys a variety of roles and success in her field.
Graduating in 2000 with an Advanced Diploma of Photography at Ultimo College, Penelope’s business Penelope Beveridge Photography specialises in a combination of Photoshop and fine art which results in a unique product. As a result, she has worked extensively in both commercial and private photography and boasts an extensive list of high-profile clientele, from companies such as Qantas and Coca Cola to national galleries and museums, to personalities and dignitaries such as former Prime Minister Bob Hawke and former NSW Premier Bob Carr. Penelope exhibits both in Australia and internationally and has received countless commissions for advertisements and editorials, as well as private conceptual fine art portraiture work.
In 2009, Penelope was appointed director of Australian Commercial and Media Photographers (ACMP) and she is an active member of the Australian Businesswomen’s Network. In addition to her thriving professional career, Penelope initiated and developed Creative Forum, a group aimed at aiding unemployed artists, performers and musicians in getting back into work in their chosen field. This charity work was awarded with an Australia Day award, one of many accolades received by Penelope.
“I never imagined when I finished [my studies] that I would get an international client, an ongoing client. I was invited to Sweden, I was invited to Paris…it was the most amazing experience. I was shooting beautiful, interesting beauty shots, getting the most amazing creative briefs. And I had that career for two to three years.
“When I left Sydney TAFE I was prepared. I had a portfolio, I understood my industry. I understood the psychology of looking at photos – the artistic side, and the nuts and bolts – the scientific side. And that knowledge combined together… in my brain so I could go out there and conquer the world!”
