Head teacher of hospitality at Ultimo College, Ken brings a wealth of experience in the industry to his role at TAFE. Ken worked as a pastry chef in the hotel industry in Australia, as well as a number of high profile places in London, and owned his own patisserie before venturing into teaching – a move he has found very rewarding.
“I get a lot out of seeing young people learn and grow with us over the years they’re here. It’s really nice when they take the time to come back and see you to tell you how they’re doing in the industry. I have lots of students who keep in touch to ask for recipes, jobs, to ask about water temperatures, all kinds of things!
“I love teaching. It’s great to be in a position where you can transfer your skills and your knowledge – it’s a satisfying thing to be able to do. The main thing is you are here for the students.”
